Superintendent's Welcome

Welcome to Barnesville Public Schools!

There is a great deal to be proud of in Barnesville, and even more to look forward to. Our schools bring together dedicated employees, supportive families, talented students, and a community that consistently invests in its children. It is an honor to serve as superintendent and help build on that commitment.

Our 2026–2031 Strategic Plan provides a clear direction for the next five years. It reflects our shared priorities and a mission that guides our work: “Our mission is to equip every student with a strong academic foundation, practical life skills, and the character needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.” We want every student to be known, valued, challenged, and supported and to leave Barnesville prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Putting that plan into action means strengthening instruction, responding to individual learning needs, expanding college-credit and career exploration opportunities, and helping students develop practical skills. It also means supporting student well-being, maintaining clear expectations, and creating opportunities to participate in fine arts, athletics, activities, leadership, and service. Whether a student’s next step is college, technical training, an apprenticeship, military service, or employment, our responsibility is to help that student move forward with confidence and purpose.

Our community’s investment in school facilities has greatly expanded what we can offer. The major construction and renovation project brought new elementary classrooms and early childhood spaces, improved special education and instructional areas, and provided upgrades to building systems, security, and accessibility. At the high school, the Performing Arts Center, Barnesville Sports Arena, music spaces, fitness facilities, commons and kitchen, and renovated science and career and technical education areas have created more opportunities for students. The connecting walkway has also brought our campus together. These facilities serve our students every day and provide gathering places for the broader community.

That progress has continued over the past several years through the use of additional voter-approved construction dollars. Investments have included elementary classroom cabinets, sinks, furniture, and playground improvements; high school classroom heating and cooling upgrades; and expanded equipment for welding, manufacturing, and other hands-on learning. We have also improved instructional technology, performance sound and lighting, athletic equipment, building access, sidewalks, and other features that support safety and accessibility. Energy and maintenance investments help us care for these facilities for years to come. Each improvement serves a practical purpose: better learning environments, more student opportunities, and schools that function well for everyone who uses them.

Careful stewardship remains central to this work. As we evaluate additional facility, equipment, and technology needs, we will continue to connect spending decisions to student needs, long-term priorities, and the resources available. Our community has placed considerable trust in us, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Strong schools depend on strong relationships and open communication. Through the Superintendent’s Monthly Update for Families and Community, we are sharing district news, progress, and priorities. We are also developing a comprehensive communication plan and creating more opportunities for feedback. Our new Superintendent Employee Advisory Council will give employees a voice in district improvement efforts. Supporting and retaining excellent employees, listening to families, and strengthening community partnerships are essential to putting our strategic plan into action.

I invite you to explore our website, learn more about our strategic plan, attend a school event, and stay connected with the work happening throughout our district. Whether your family has been part of Barnesville for generations or you are considering joining our schools, you are welcome here. Please reach out with your questions, concerns, or ideas. Your involvement helps shape the experience we provide for every student.

Thank you for your continued support of Barnesville Public Schools. I am proud to be part of this community and excited about what we can accomplish together.

Go Trojans!
