Atkinson Elementary School

My name is Laura Anderson; I received my degree in Elementary Education in 2008 from MSUM. Before teaching here in Barnesville, I taught Title One in Hawley for one year.  This will be my fifth year teaching at Atkinson Elementary.  I have grown up in the Barnesville area and have proudly gone though the Barnesville school system.  Besides teaching 4^th grade, I also enjoy running, gardening and helping my husband on the farm.  My husband Paul is a farmer and we live by Comstock. We  have two little boys named Thomas who is 2 1/2 and Will who is 1.

I have been fortunate enough have many opportunities to work with children of all ages.  I have taught and coached in the age ranges from pre-school to seniors in high school.  Seeing children learn gives me a feeling of great joy that cannot be found any other way.  For me, the rewards that come from being a teacher far outweigh the challenges that teaching can sometimes present.  I assure you that your child will be continually engaged with fun and creative activities that will help them learn at their highest level.  Our year will be filled with exciting lessons that involve the use of technology, hands on learning, movement, reading and many other things that will incorporate all of the skills fourth graders need to be successful in school and life long learners.
